1 Year Since We Moved from Julian

Donna & Mark Turner - Horizon Gate Founders

Unbelievably, this month we will celebrate our one-year anniversary of moving from Julian to the city.
I say "celebrate" not because we will be partying. However, the qualities remembered by our sense of loss, including the solitude, quiet, beauty and peace of living in the forest; the space of the property; the friends and small town community -- all of that and more are still woven into us.
When we find such qualities we want to stay where we found them. Peter's response to Jesus' transfiguration on the mountain was to build places for all of them to live there happily ever after. But, Jesus took them back down the mountain.
At those places of epiphany it is hard to tell ourselves we're not "there" yet. But, even as we take our leave, we can embrace growth rather than to shrink.
We have gained all that has gone before and not lost it. Let us take that with us and keep expanding. God is about increasing our capacities to something far more than we could ever think or imagine. It would be tragic to quench that by trying to hold on to transitory things.
